Who makes up the board of directors?

CMCA board members are your neighbors who have volunteered to assist in running the Association.  You are invited to contact any of the board members if you have any questions or comments about the neighborhood.  If you have an interest in supporting the board by becoming a director, please let us know. Directors are elected at the general meeting each February to three-year terms; vacant positions can be filled by appointment.

You may reach the board via email or by calling 703/803-9641.

Who do I contact regarding home improvements?

If you plan on making improvements to your home (i.e., painting, adding a deck, installing a fence, etc.), you need to submit an Approval Request Form to the ACC for project approval prior to starting the project.  Include in your request a description or diagram of the changes to be made, including color and location. This is necessary to ensure that the overall appearance of the community is consistent and attractive.  See Architectural Guidelines for more information.

You may reach the board via email or by calling 703/803-9641.

Does CMCA have a dedicated trash vendor?

At the annual general meeting a member expressed concern over the number of garbage trucks coming through the neighborhood.  In an effort to reduce the number of waste disposal vendors servicing our community, the board has negotiated agreements with two of the area’s largest waste disposal vendors, American Disposal Services and AAA Recycling and Trash Removal.  Participation in either deal is completely optional, but either offer should reduce the cost of trash removal and help reduce the number of trucks coming through our neighborhood.

AAA Recycling and Trash Removal (henceforth AAA) has agreed to a rate of $26/month (billed at $78/quarter) and $23/month (billed at $69/quarter) for senior citizens.  Those rates are good for new and existing customers alike.  The agreement with AAA is good for 18 months and will take effect September 1st for those who decide to take part.  AAA does require that a contract be signed to take advantage of this deal.  Between the delivery of this newsletter and September 1st, AAA will be sending out more information about this deal to the members of the community.  To obtain a copy of the agreement before AAA sends out their mailer, you may email David Nolan (dnolan+cabells@gmail.com) and ask for a copy.

American Disposal Services (henceforth ADS) has agreed to a rate of $23/month (billed at $69/quarter) for new and existing customers alike.  The agreement with ADS is good for one year and will take effect upon signing up with ADS.  ADS does not require a contract be signed to take advantage of this deal.  For existing customers, the rate can be obtained by calling ADS at (703) 368-0500 and asking the customer service agent for the Cabell’s Mill rate of $23/month.  ADS has not given us a specific senior citizen rate, but it may be available.  Feel free to ask if this applies to you.  For existing ADS customers that are currently paying a monthly fee for a wheeled recycling bin or would like to upgrade to a wheeled recycling bin, please ask about obtaining a free wheeled recycling bin when speaking with customer service.

For customers that wish to switch to ADS, there are two options available.  As with existing members, new customers can call ADS at (703) 368-0500 and ask for the Cabell’s Mill rate of $23/month when signing up for service.  In addition to this, ADS will be sending their outside sales team to our community on August 20th, 21st, 27th and 28th.  New customers signing up with the outside sales team will be able to take advantage of a promotional rate of $59/quarter that is good for one year.  This new customer rate does require a one year commitment.  If you would like the team to stop by your house on a specific date, please email David Nolan (dnolan+cabells@gmail.com) with your address and the date you would like them to stop by and that information will be communicated to ADS.  If you would prefer that they not stop by your home, email David Nolan as well and that information will be relayed to ADS as well.

The rates with both companies will continue to be negotiated with the vendors when the agreements expire.  The board’s goal is keep costs low for our members and build a relationship with the venders servicing our community.  As these relationships grow, we can strive toward keeping our community clean.
