Welcome to the Neighborhood!

As a new resident of Cabell's Mill (or an existing resident interested in learning more about the community), the following information will provide you with a foundation of the activities in and around the Cabell's Mill community.

Listed below are some of the many benefits of living in the Cabell's Mill.

Annual Picnic.  Each Fall, the CMCA sponsors a community picnic held in the neighborhood.  Bring the kids and meet your new neighbors!  Past activities have included moon bounces, assorted food and drink, face painting and cotton candy, to name a few.  By the look of the pictures, the picnic was a resounding success!  Look for more specific information on the CMCA website or in the newsletters.

For more information, send CMCA an e-mail.

Annual Yard Sale.  One man's junk is another man's treasure, right?!?  And what better way to find new treasures than a community yard sale!  Each Spring and Fall, CMCA coordinates the neighborhood yard sale.  By coordinating our efforts, our neighborhood "stores" will enjoy greater profits.

Community Association.  Each property owner within Cabell's Mill belongs to the Cabell's Mill Community Association.  The CMCA serves as the governing body of the neighborhood guided by the board of directors, which consists of neighbors who have volunteered their time to serve the community.  The board meets the second Wednesday each month in the James D. McDonnell Community Room at Sully Station to discuss matters important to the community or upcoming events.  February the Annual meeting is held the first Tuesday of the month.  In addition, the board is also responsible for enforcing the CMCA covenants and managing the finances.  Please contact the board if you are interested in attending a regular board meeting in case there has been a meeting change.

Parks and Recreation.  The neighborhood of Cabell's Mill backs to Ellanor Lawrence Park.  This park, which encompasses both Cabell's Mill and the Walney Visitor Center, provides a number of activities for all members of the family.  Poplar Tree Park is located just down the street and includes numerous athletic fields and a playground for the little ones.

In addition to these Fairfax County Parks, there are numerous trails within Cabell's Mill and the surrounding neighborhoods for walking, biking or jogging.
